This easy heavy cream substitute uses just milk and butter to create a rich, creamy replacement for heavy cream. It works perfectly in soups, sauces, casseroles, and baked goods when you’re out of the real thing. Quick, simple, and made with pantry staples in just minutes.
¾ cup whole milk
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
(This equals 1 cup heavy cream substitute.)
Melt the butter in a small bowl or saucepan.
Pour the milk into a mixing bowl or large measuring cup.
Slowly whisk the melted butter into the milk until fully combined.
Use immediately in place of 1 cup heavy cream in your recipe.
Best used for cooking and baking (soups, sauces, casseroles, batter).
This substitute will not whip like real heavy cream.
If using 2% milk, the result will be slightly less rich.
For best results, use immediately after mixing.
