Homemade Taco Seasoning (Easy & Better Than Store-Bought)

This easy homemade taco seasoning comes together in minutes using simple pantry spices and tastes better than store-bought. Perfect for tacos, taco meat, soups, and more.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder

  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a small bowl or jar.

  2. Stir well until evenly combined, or cover and shake the jar until blended.

  3. Use immediately or store in an airtight container until ready to use.

 

How to Use

 

Use 2–3 tablespoons of taco seasoning per 1 pound of meat.

When cooking taco meat, add ½–¾ cup water or broth after browning and let simmer until thickened.
