How to Make Brown Sugar at Home (Only 2 Ingredients)

Easy homemade brown sugar made with just white sugar and molasses. Create light or dark brown sugar in minutes using tools you already have.

Ingredients

  •    1 cup white granulated sugar

1–2 tablespoons molasses

  • 1 tablespoon = light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons = dark brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Add the white sugar and molasses to a bowl, food processor, or blender.
  2. Mix until the molasses is fully combined and the sugar is evenly brown.

    • By hand: Use a fork or whisk and mash out any clumps.

  3. Use immediately or store in an airtight container.
